BETA READING

Beta readers are invaluable to me, especially since I write in a language which is not my native tongue. Without their competence and encouragement, I doubt I would still be writing in English. So when I tried to put together a list of resources for beta readers (and writers who work with beta readers) and found out how little is known about beta reading and beta readers, I decided to do some research on my own.

Before I start, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank all the incredible people who beta read my stories in the past or who are still beta reading for me.

Or as one of the writers said in her questionnaire:
I've come to realize that a good beta reader, who takes the job seriously, is worth her weight in chocolate. She deserves many kudos and a public thank you when the story is posted.

I'd also like to thank all the beta readers and writers who took the time to fill out the questionnaire.

Thank you!

One other thing: This inofficial research paper has not been beta read. If you would like to apply for the job, or if you find any mistakes or awkward phrases, please email me. Of course you can also email me to let me know what you thought about this "study".
